Innovative music technology at SXSW

12.03.2009 At this year's South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, mufin shows its innovative technologies for discovering new music and managing digital music collections in the form of the mufin player and mufin vision mobile.

Attracting over 40,000 special-interest visitors and 1,400 bands, South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas is one of the world's most important music fairs and festivals.

The new mufin player is the world's first media player to use the sound of a music library to sort and discover new music. Using acoustic fingerprinting technology, it is possible to sort your own music collection according to sound similarity. This makes quick finding of titles that fit well together easy, even when searching among thousands of songs. In addition, the mufin player lets music fans discover new music based on sound. The mufin player is directly connected to the music discovery engine on mufin.com, whose sound-based technology prepares music recommendations for more than 5 million musical titles. This way, appropriate music recommendations can be quickly displayed for any title chosen from your own collection.

With mufin vision mobile, entire digital music libraries may be managed and played even on small screens found on most portable devices. This innovative visual aid solves the problem of navigating and sorting through large music collections found today even on the smallest of playback devices. While with conventional sorting according to artist or title name Coldplay is filed after Cher, with mufin vision mobile only songs that fit to each other musically appear side by side.
