Music Information Retrieval System

"Just what was the name of that song..." Everyone is familiar with this problem; an attempt is made to locate a song, but the exact name of the piece or of the artist is unknown. To address this issue, mufin has made its goal the development of technologies which enable music and audio content to be easily searched, e.g. "What was the name of that rock song from the 80s that I heard last Friday?" or "What are some less popular songs that sound similar to REM, but feature female vocals?".

Our research aims at extending current technology far beyond the level of inquiry support found in current music information retrieval systems.
